Raven F. Aguilar
I was born in Ft. Carson, CO. When I was in first grade I moved to Laredo, TX until I was 12 years old. I then moved to Gastonia, NC until I went to college at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, majoring in studio art with a concentration in Painting and Ceramics after graduation, I moved to my current residence of Wilmington,NC. I was born to create. I began drawing with graphite when I was 11 years old. I never stopped pushing myself to expand my technical skill. I have taught myself different mediums such as graphite, spray paint, charcoal, oil pastel (water soluable as well), pen & ink, calligraphy, watercolor, acrylic paint, and collage. When I began at UNCP I had a passion to excel at my craft, thanks to my professors I learned how to oil paint, opening me up to so many possibilities for my imagination. I've used my art as a mechanism to interpret the world around me. Lately, my work has consisted of self-reflections of myself and how the world interprets me vs. how I see myself. I'm not religous but I believe in reincarnation so I explore the soul starting with the eyes. I wonder what is after. Read my artist statement, it goes more in depth of what I am going for. Explore my art, ask me questions, I love to see the interpretations of my work.
Love,
RfA
